Think Ink

Cartridge World

One video that you might be interested in viewing on this matter is one about Cartridge World. I know of this video because somone in the other group who’s topic is similar to mine showed it to me and I think that it is an entertaining way to learn more.

Turning Point

My group and i have now joined another foursome that share our project idea. Our hopes are that a greater result will come from our combined efforts. We have discussed how we plan to approach the matter and how we plan to get people involved. As of now, spreading the word consists of flyers explaining our cause and a movie clip for that same purpose. I think that this collaboration is a very good way in advancing our project.

Future Goals

During the school year my group must get permission from staff administrators include the principal to place collecting bins around the school. Mainly, we will be putting bins in rooms that are used for business that involves using the printer. These rooms include the main office and the computer rooms.

Spreading the Word

To get the word out about our little endeavor, we plan to send emails out to the students who attend our school. This way, we will not waste paper by printing out flyers. We intend to keep only the environment in mind and will try to keep the costs low.  Other means of notice might include announcements over the loudspeaker.

Introduction

For this environmental project my group and I intend to recycle something that most people use every day: ink cartridges. Ink cartridges are reusable but many people do not know this. In turn, they end up throwing them away and they will then later reappear in a landfill. By recycling, you can save space in said landfill and also be cost efficient. It takes money to make ink cartridges and oil, which is a nonrenewable resource. We can save both by simply recycling. As I have previously stated, my group and I will make people in the school aware of this problem by recycling. We will set up bins around the school in order to collect ink cartridges. By the end of the month we will take the ink cartridges we have collected to Staples. Staples will then recycle these cartridges. By the end of the school year my group and I hope to have collected one thousand ink cartridges. For anyone who might consider doing the same for your used cartridges, here is how it works.
